A grounded approach to the defining years: Uncertain, unfolding, and completely yours
Support for the Moments That Shape You.
Life is full of transitions that nobody really prepares you for. The pressure to figure out who you are, what you want, and where you belong can feel overwhelming, even when everything looks fine on the outside. Therapy is a space to slow down, get honest, and actually work through it. Sessions are warm, collaborative, and focused on real life, not just what happens in the room.
Hi, I’m Katherine!
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist based in Hermosa Beach, CA (and virtually across California) helping people work through the years that feel the most uncertain. I work with people who are navigating identity, building confidence, and figuring out where they fit. Many of the people I work with seem totally fine on the outside but are quietly carrying a lot. I believe this stage of life deserves real, thoughtful support, and that's exactly what I'm here for.
I work with people in the middle of becoming. You are more capable than the voice in your head is letting on. I'm here to help you see it.
My Approach
My approach is rooted in a person-centered foundation, meaning you are always the expert on your own life. That belief shapes everything, from the way sessions feel to the pace we move at. From there, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused methods, woven together with mindfulness and creative strategies depending on what fits you best. There's no single script here. My approach adapts to who you are and what you actually need.
From that foundation, the work goes deeper. We address what's happening on the surface while staying curious about the patterns underneath it. The anxiety, the self-criticism, the feeling of falling behind are real and they deserve real attention. But lasting change comes from understanding the roots, not just trimming what's visible. Together we'll untangle what's driving the hard stuff and build tools that carry into your everyday life, your relationships, and the moments that define who you're becoming.

We'll spend time getting to know each other, talking about what brought you in and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. I'll share a bit about how I work and you'll have plenty of space to ask questions too. There's no script and no pressure to have it all figured out before we meet. The goal of that first session is simple: to see if we click. Good therapy is built on trust and that starts from day one.

I am an out of network provider, meaning I am not on any insurance panels. At the end of each month, however, I am able to provide you with a Superbill. This is an itemized receipt of your mental health services that you can provide to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
Please check with your insurance provider to gain an understanding of how to work with an out of network provider:
Do I have out of network benefits?
What is my out of network deductible?
Do they cover counseling services?
How do I submit a Superbill for reimbursement?
I believe that mental health care should be accessible to everyone. With that in mind, I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots on my caseload. Please call to inquire about current availability.

If something comes up, just let me know at least 24 hours before your session and we can cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations made within 24 hours or no shows will be charged the full session fee.

I'm so glad you're here and thinking about taking this step. Reach out via phone or email and we'll set up a brief consultation. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping to get out of therapy, and make sure we feel like a good fit before we get started.
